Hi! My name is Sudarshan Sampath and thank you so much for visiting my personal website!
I am an economist based in Seattle, Washington. I have over 5 years of experience working in a broad range of government, non-profit and private sector analytical roles and have been fortunate enough to work a wide variety of projects relating to economic impact analysis, forecasting, environmental economics and trade economics.
My main academic interest lies in using economic theory to answer unique research questions. To do this, I think it’s vitally important to understand how rapid changes in technology can open up new avenues for economic study; particularly as analytical software such as ArcGIS, Python, and SQL can provide economists the means to utilize innovative solutions to solve difficult research questions. I am currently just starting to explore this space and have recently worked on a few projects professionally which leverage GIS analysis to measure employment impacts on public port district land and to accurately estimate the spread and potential impact of invasive species to Washington’s economy. Please look at my “Project Work” page to see more detailed descriptions of these two projects and other examples of my previous project experience.
I’ll occasionally use this website post short blogs with some of my thoughts on recent news and economic trends, a few of my favorite photos from my hiking adventures and I’ll post about my favorite bits of pop culture as well.
Lastly, please note that any thoughts and opinions published on this website are my own and are not reflective of any opinions held by an employer in the past, present or future.
Thank you so much for reading and if you would like to get in contact with me please check out the “Contact” page!
Cheers,
Sudarshan
